1. DEFINITION OF IMPERIALSM.

* The Imperialism term is a reference of an actitude or accion where another country is dominated using the army, politics and economics issues. This term has a very nationalist strong. www.claseshistoria.com/imperialismo/concepto.htm

2. INTRODUCTION

The imperialism has had several models. It depends on the age that we are talking about as well the country. In the ancient age, like Alejandro Magno, the idea was to represent a kind of religión or civilitation and dominate another civilitation. In Europe, among 1400 and 1750, the idea of the imperialism was a colonial expansión of their lands in newoverseas lands.

During XIX century, we can find a new idea of imperialism. Now the way to dominate another country was the free-change imperialism. The idea was to dominate another country in a economic way.

When the second world war finished all the old recognized empire was disolved, and now we have the economic kind of imperialism.

3. THE CAUSES OF THE IMPERIAL EXPANSION

We canstudy the imperial expansión under tree causes, they are politicals, economicals and social-cultural.

* Politicals causes: The idea was to get prestige around the world. If you can dominate anothers countries, your population will trust in their president. It was a way to demostrate how powerful you were. The countries was governated by strongs personalities like Bismark, Jules Ferry etc,followed a diplomatic accion in order to persuade to the population. They was helped by the press too. In the other hand, the imperialist wanted to get all the control over the lands an oveseas routes in order to avoid the expansion of they rivals. This control was economical and military as well. This kind of control had a lot of tensión between the imperialist countries and at the end the FirstWorld War started.

* Economical causes: There was a big industrial expansion. The countries needed to invert the money earned in the country and it was a good idea invert it in the new land. They could lend money in order to built railways, harbours or big constructions. Take notice that all this proyects were for improve the way to commercialize the products from the olds lands a news one. Theidea was easy, lend money to thw people who lived in the new land. The deal was great. Sometimes this new countries was very rich in raw materials and they had enough population to work hard with low salaries and sometimes they had to work as slaves, so they could get this raw material for the main country cheaper than in Europe for example. This workers had not any rights.

* Social-Culturalcauses: In Europe we had an over population between 1850 and 1900. At the industrialized countries people lived in a very poor living conditions so many of them tried to get a new oportunity abroad. The cause of this over population was a successful fight against endemic diseases, so mortality was low. Speaking about religion, there were a lot of missionaries. They had two specific objetives,civilizing indigenous, giving their education and evangelizing, the europeans wanted to expand the Christianity around the villages an tribes. Also the scientifics saw in the imperialism the oprtunity to explore new territories and learn new things.

4. THE RISE OF IMPERIALISM

All of this empires was led for two main causes. First one would be the idea of superiority of the European race...
