Account for the survival of Nicholas II in 1905 and his overthrow in 1917

After the death of Tsar Alexander III in 1894, Tsar Nicholas II was given the position to rule the country. The Tsar had complete power over Russia. Because of this, Russia was clearly an autocracy. The population of Russia didn't really like Tsar Alexander III, many people were discontent with the way the Tsar ruled, they didn't want to pay so much land taxes for insufficient land and poor harvests. When Tsar Nicholas II started ruling the country he definitely had a hard start because of the discontent his father had left in the country. The revolution was not caused by this discontent alone, when Tsar Nicholas II started ruling he felt like he wasn't ready, he was missing a lot of experience. He had no limitin his power. He didn't help his people and couldn't make his own decisions. During the time he was ruling there were two revolutions, the one in 1905 and the one in 1917. He managed to stay in power in the 1905 revolution but collapsed in the 1917 one, this was when the Romanov dynasty was over.
One of the problems Tsar Nicholas II had was the discontent of the people, especially the peasants. Inthe 19th century the population was very tired of the way the country was being ruled by the Tsar. There was a really large food shortage and everyone was suffering so the peasants went on strike. The peasant wanted to stop their poverty and starvation; the land wasn't enough for all of them. The peasants also wanted freedom of speech and more political power so that they wouldn't have to live inso terrible conditions, without food and bad harvests. Most of the Russian population wanted to remove power from the Tsar, they wanted more autonomy, and people were against autocracy and tired of the living conditions caused by the Tsar. People wanted to participate on the decisions made for the country, they wanted to be more involved in the government and they wanted to be able to elect aparliament. There were two main groups of revolutionaries, the social revolutionaries wanted the peasants to create a social state and the social democrats wanted the workers to create a communist state. It didn't matter what the aim was, most people were tired with the Tsar.
In 1904, Russia lost the Russo Japanese war. People felt ashamed because they had lost against an Asian country, the Tsarlost authority and the food was less than before, Also unemployment grew a lot in this time. People were paying for the mistakes of the Tsar, many ships were lost, and the country was destroyed.
On January 22 of 1905, the Bloody Sunday occurred, it was the first revolution; it was a protest that was trying to make social and economic reforms. The people making this revolution also wanted to have arepresentative in the government. This protest started being a peaceful protest, when the people marching where near the winter palace, the Cossacks attacked them, because of this the Tsar told his army to attack also. Many people died, men, women, and children, about 2000 people. There was a lot of resentment and because of this many strikes started to happen. Also new committees started toappear, this committees were conformed by soldiers and workers and they were called Soviets, with this committees they could be represented. In Moscow and St Petersburg the situation was terrible, peasants started forming mutinies and attacking their landlords because of the conditions they were being forced to live in.
The Tsar was not protecting his people but instead attacking them, the amount ofpeople that were against him kept growing, he had lost his power and now had two options. The first thing he could do was keep-using force to stop but this could not work. His second option was to give the peasants, soldiers and workers what they were asking for. He decided to use the second option; he said this on the October manifesto on the 30th of October of 1905. One of the main aspects of...
