Introduction.
Indigenous Wayus
The Wayus or peasants (the Arawak peasant, sir, powerful man, self Wayuu) 3 arenatives of the Guajira Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea, inhabiting territories of Colombia and Venezuela, regardless of borders between the two countries South Americans.
Geography
Location of ethnicity.
They occupy an area of 15,300 km2 in the Colombian department of La Guajira, Colombia, and 12,000 km2 in the state of Zulia, Venezuela. The xerophytic savanna climate south and west(Baja Guajira) and arid or semiarid steppe north and east (Alta Guajira), is warm and dry, the lluviosidad of this region is very small and there is only rain in the juyapu, between September and December. In the Alta Guajira is the Massif consists of the mountainous Guajiro4 Macuira Jala'la, Chiare, and Cooking Cojoro Epitsú hill, reaching up to 900 m South of the Guajira run low, the riverwestward Limon River Rancheria and eastward.
The Wayus inhabit the arid Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela, on the Caribbean Sea. It is a region with a warm climate, dry and inhospitable, washed by the rivers Rancheria (Colombia) and lemon (Venezuela). Presents some seasons marked by a first rainy season, called Juyapu, which develops during the months of September toDecember, followed by a dry season, known as Jemial, which runs from December to April. Then comes the second rainy season called Iwa, ending with a long dry season which runs from May to September.
