FREE WILL:

What is WILL? Intention, volition, its the difference between me raising my arm and my arm going up... there is cognition(motivation) vs reflex (I'm not thinking of dong it)
Did it just happened cause of my brain or my natural presetting? Does that mean that I don't have a capacity to intervene?
Kant thought that absolut spontaneity of an action is necessary to make ityour action... Against that perspective other authors don't think that you need that illlumination if you do something even it isn't completely spontaneous it is still a free action cause you have a say on it.

Its irritating cause we feel free, so it itches when we think we might not be...

And responsibility happens when we can blame someone for a bad action... if someone starts to behavebadly and then it happens that there is a tumour affecting his sistem we say that it wasn't his fault it was the fault of the tumor, but then we think that there is always something like a tumor: there are chemicals, hormones and plenty of other substances that affect the brain and have an effect on the way we behave and make us do what we do, so, why isn't that the same case as the tumor? Thenmoral responsibility flyes out of the window.(We couldn't speak of moral risponsability)

DETERMINISM: Picture a game of snooker on tv, if you watch a lot you will predict that the black will go in and the white will alligne back in the center... but what takes to be absolutly certain of what is going to happen? The laws of nature will have to say that in that case there is only one possiblesolution, one way of the balls reacting: that will be DETERMINISM but the game is the world so not just that balls reacting but all human action, thoughts, behaviours, everything its determined. If all of those decisions are determined by the laws of nature its is not like if I could choose the beef or the chicken from the menu, it has always been determined that I was going to choose the chicken itis set in stone what is going to happen.

Is thatwhat we call fate? NO, there is a distinction: in fate what is going to happen is going to happen no matter what... like a job interview if I had my dream job interview and it was fated that I would get the job I wouldn't make an effort in the interview and it wouldn't change a thing if show at the interview at all. Opposite to that determinismdoesn't work like that: one of the things that allowed you to get the job is that you went to the interview and put a good performance. There is a set order of the things for them to be able of happening. If its fated you didn't even need to wake up from bed, it will happen any way, no mattter what.

EDIPO: fate: murdering his father and marrying his mother.
The question is the extent of allthe factors that lead to that. If all the things were heading to that end or not, would have it happened anyway if he would have done something different?

Determinism and religion: isn't contradictory a reward in the afterlife. If everthing is determined from the very beginning (big bang)? Some of us will go to heaven and some to hell... How can that be combined with determinism?
The mostcommonly understood free will mekes us be punished or rewarded by going to hell or heaven... how can we be punished for something that is already determined?

What happens to Moral responsibility if determinism its true?

COMPATIBILISM:
Think about ordinary situations that we find:
If you offer me 100 pounds to torture someone and I'm sure that I'll turn that offer down I 'm freelydeciding not to toruture, and if for example you are giving me 100 pounds to kill an spider and I'm absolutly terrifyed by spiders even when I want to take the 100 pound I can't kill that spider.
There is a distinction between being in control of your actions and not being in control of your actions, I'm not in control of my actions in the last example, there is a distinction thinking that in...
