A BAD CENTURY

This essay I am going to explain the most important points for the beginning of the Second World War, the topics that I am going to take into account are the treaty of Versailles,the failure of the League of Nations, the great depression, the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazis.

After the First World War, Germany was defeated; Europe was literally in ruins. On 12 January1919, at the palace of Versailles, the first session of the Paris peace Conference began; leaders from 32 nations were present to discuss the terms to be imposed to the defeated Central powers.
TheTreaty of Versailles was planted by the four allied nations (USA, Britain; Italy and France), and it was finally signed by Germany in the historic Hall of Mirrors at The Palace of Versailles on 28 June1919. In the treaty Germany was supposed to make a lot of limitations in their industry, in their army, and in their territory. The Treaty forced Germany army to a maximum of 100,000 men, tanks andaircraft were prohibited, building battleships and submarines was outlawed, and was forced to lose 13 percent of its territory. This makes that Germany economy suffer a lot, the people lose all theirsavings just for buying their breakfast, Germany´s economy was in totally crisis and they can’t do anything.

The League of Nations was an organization founded as the result of the previously namedTreaty of Versailles. The League's primary goals, as stated in its Covenant, included preventing war through collective security, disarmament, and settling international disputes through negotiation andarbitration. The assembly met annually and consists of 32 allied powers and 12 neutral states. The permanent seats were four and were held by Britain, Italy, France and Japan. The depression washitting Japan very hard, its economy was in crisis, the anti- Western were replacing the pro-Western democratic leaders, and they were supporting a growth in military spending.
