Before you proceed w ith the installation, please notice the follow ing
descriptions.
Note 1: The following installation was operated under Windows XP.
(Procedures are similar to Windows 98SE/Me/2000.)
Note 2: If you have installed the W LAN USB driver & utility already, please
uninstall the old version first.
Note 3: Do not insert the w ireless LAN adapter into your computer until
theprocedure of “Install the Driver & Utility” has been performed.

1. Installation
1. If you i nsert the W irel ess LAN USB Adaptor i nto your computer USB port

after ``installing the software program from the CD, then the following window
pops up.
2. Click C a ncel.

3. Choose a set up l ang ua ge.

4. Click N ext to process the install ati on. .

5. Click Install to W LAN USB adaptor install ation.

6. On W ind o ws Log o Sof tware Install ati on screen, click C ontinue Anyw a y to

continue.

Note: Not all the drivers will have this message box.

7. Click Finis h to compl ete the i nstall ati on.

8. Af ter setu p, restart your computer

2. Uninstallation
A. Uninstall the W LA N USB Adaptor Driver from “W ireless Net work Driver and
Utility” or “ControlPanel”. Click “Uninstall” (or “Change/Remove”) to
remove W ireless LAN USB Adaptor driver.

B. Click “OK” if you want to remove W ireless LAN USB Adaptor
Driver.
C. Click “Finish” to complete the uninstallation.

Making a Basic Network Connection

In the following instruction for m aking a network connection, we use the utility we
provided to configure your wireless netw ork setti ngs.

Note:For W indows XP users that want to configure your wireless netw ork using this
Utility, please p erform the following procedures to disabl e your native W indows XP
wireless support (W ireless Zero C onfiguration Service)

1.

Double click the

icon on your desktop to start the utility or

Ad-Hoc M ode
An Ad-Hoc m od e wireless netw ork connects two com putersdirectly without the use
of a router or AP.

To use this adapter in Ad-Hoc Mode

1.

Double click the

icon on your desktop to start the utilityor

2.

Click the “Available Network” button to scan av ail abl e wireless netw ork
ad ap ters. Doubl e click on the network adapter that you are g oing to connect to.

3.

Click the OK button to confirm that you are connecting to an open wireless
network.

4.

Click OK to add this network into the profile list.

Note: This exam pl e is an open wirel essnetwork. If you are going to connect to a
W ireless ad apt er with security protection, you will have to configure the encryption
setting s in this profile to b e corresponding to the other wireless ad apt er. Please click o
the “ Network Authentication” d rop list to sel ect an authentication m ethod, and
then sel ect a “D ata enc rypt ion” type. Fill in each required bl ank s and click
“O K”.

with this wireless AP.

To use this adapter in I nfrastructure Mode:

Double click the

icon on your desktop to start the utility or

Click the “ Available Network” button to scan avail able access p oints. Double
click on the AP that you are going to connect to.

3.

Double click to create p rofile that you are connecting to an open wirel ess
network.

4.

Click OK to add this network into the profil e list.
