Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gruop Work, Pair Work , Whole Class Teaching

GROUP WORK
1. Advantages:

* Students help their classmates.
* An activity does not take for long.
* Students share ideas.

2. Disadvantages:

* Some of them work.
*There is a lot of noise.
* Disagreements may cause problems in the group.

PAIR WORK

1. Advantages:

* Less stressful for introvert students.
* Theother students do not notice when a classmate makes a mistake.

2. Disadvantages:

* When the teacher is not around, students may use their mother tongue to say something that they can’t sayin a foreign language.
* Teacher can’t correct the mistakes that he does not hear.
* There are no answers to compare when one of the students does not finish the task.WHOLE CLASS

1. Advantages:

* There are usually a lot of students that want to participate.
* Teacher interacts with the student.

2. Disadvantages:

* Not all of thestudents participate.
* It is a traditional way to teach.


INDIVIDUAL STUDY

1. Advantages:

* There’s no pressure of a classmate.
* Theystudy at their own speed.

2. Disadvantages:

* Students can’t help their classmates.
* Less dynamic classroom.

Activities

1. Group work: the teacher assigns a topic to discuss ina group of 4 students for 7 minutes; then, the teacher asks a student to report what one of their classmates say. It is a good activity to practice report speech.

2. Pair work: everybody standsup and looks for a classmate to practice a role-play conversation, they have to look for another classmate to practice the same role-play when the teacher says: “change.” This activity is importantto improve their pronunciation and interact with the other students.
