Historia de los hospitales en México

Después de la invasión española a la nueva España esta presento lassecuelas de la sangrienta lucha de conquista, la irrupción de epidemias con enfermedades desconocidas en el mundo americano (como la viruela, el sarampión y otras), el dominio colonial basado en el abuso, la violencia y la explotación de la mano de obra indígena, y las recurrentes hambrunas en los centros urbanos novohispanos, condujeron a una de las catástrofes demográficas más dramáticas de losúltimos 500 años la elevada morbilidad y mortalidad de la población nativa en el siglo XVI produjeron una significativa pérdida de la fuerza de trabajo que afectó los intereses económicos de los recién llegados conquistadores. Asociado a lo anterior, se sumó la conquista espiritual de los pueblos indios en este contexto donde aparecen los hospitales como novedosos centros de curación pero también...
