The wall

The wall’s infernal and internal
The wall’s akin to doubts within
The wall is vernal and external Vernal: relating to spring
The wall within isyour Berlin

The wall will tout until you shout
The wall keeps in your thankless sin
The wall keeps out the hopeless doubt 
The wall within is your Berlin

The wall will part and break a heart
The wall within divides Berlin
The wall of art keeps us apart

I am a formal poetand have written in over fifty poetry forms. I love the art and write in all genres from children poems to erotic to spiritual; I am the creator of the wall”1.
Amera Andersen “is a classically-self-taught poet, award-winning author, social-butterfly and Renaissance thinker who leads from the heart toward a world of unlimited possibilities, She believes every person is worthy of being loved anddeserves know and explore their own unique and beautiful talent. She believes that poetry is a gift and with help and support from other poets that gift can be perfected and carry the art to a new level”2.

The poem refers to the Berlin which was the physical division between West Berlin and East Germany. However, it was also the symbolic boundary between democracy and Communism during the ColdWar”3.
This is a Sonnet and the main characteristic of it is that it contains “56 perfect and identical rhymes”4.
The wall is a different kind of sonnet which is called a “Kyrielle Sonnet. This sonnet consists of 14 lines: three rhyming quatrains stanzas and a non-rhyming couplet”5. Another characteristic is that each line of the poem has an Internal rhyme (Example: The wall keeps in yourthankless sin), “each line consists of only eight syllables”6.
The rhyme scheme is: A-B-A-B C-B-C-B E-B-E-B G-B. Apart from having internal rhymes it contains an eye rhyme on stanzas 5 and 7: SHOUT and DOUBT.
Going through this poem, the persona of it is 1° person singular and the poem can be directed to a specific person or to a group of people who are being isolated from the world. Analyzing thewhole poem, I can say that, it is a personification, because it is giving human characteristic to the wall such as been VERNAL and INFERNAL, first of all Vernal is referring to youth and freshness, and Infernal is referring to devil. They are also antonyms which express that this wall has more than one important characteristic, and I also can say that the wall is being described in different ways. Ican also see alliteration, it just only at the beginning of the poem, where it repeat the first consonant consonant sound in Infernal and Internal.
I can see that there are lots of repetitions, and the most repeated is the word Wall. If you analize the poem, the word Wall is used many times to emphasize the meaning of the it, because People that read this poem can understand and know more aboutthe history of the wall. In the poem this stanza is repeated: The wall within is your Berlin. This stanza is trying to say that the wall is pretty alike to the Berlin wall and that it can be dividing someone from another person or the whole world. Another repetition is: The wall’s infernal and internal; it is saying that it is an invention of the person to divide themselves and it is internal, so itis inside the person’s mind.
It is very easy to understand what the mood of the poem is, because all the time the poem is referring to bad moments lived fifty years ago. The mood is sad and desperation.
