Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940) Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to an upper middle class Irish Catholic family, as a child he was reffered to as “Scott”. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest american writers of the former “Jazz Age”-a term he coined himself. Fitzgerald is one of my favorite one because he took the risk and modesty ofwriting in the women point of view or at least getting close to it, not caring of the critics that his work might’ve had on those times. His points of view in both ways made the story descriptive and easy to comprehend, this important details help the reader comprehend the story at its best. He finished four novels, This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and Damned, Tender is the Night and his mostfamous one The Great Gatsby; his fifth unfinished novel The Love of the Last Tycoon was published posthumously. The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night were made films, and his life was dramatized in Beloved Infidel. Reasons why I choose him as my favorite one over Hemingway & Faulkner. Fitzgerald had been an alcoholic since his college days, and became notorious during the 1920s for hisextraordinarily heavy drinking, leaving him in poor health by the late 1930s, he suffered two heart attacks in the late 1940s to this he started drinking even more,he used the excuse that he had contracted tuberculosis as excuse to his drinking problems. His legacy was the Great Gatsby, Into the 21st century, millions of copies of The Great Gatsby and his other works have been sold, and Gatsby, aconstant best-seller, is required reading in many high school and college classes. He is a 2009 inductee of the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Fitzgerald’s most popular age of his writing is in the 1920’s because during this age he based his most famous, best seller book, The Great Gatsby. This book is really interesting because it is based on a famous activity that took place during the 20’s which was namedas bootlegging, this is, dealing alcohol during this age, in which alcohol was prohibited by political and social issues. The book is very complex but interesting when you catch its idea. This book is ranked in the number two best-selling book during the twentieth century according to Modern’s library list of the one hundred best-selling books of all time. This book made many appearances intheater, movie, music, etc. All of them made Fitzgerald a legend in his way of writing this famous text. We can recognize many theater adaptations and movie adaptations which are all based on Gatsby, of course; all of these adaptations had to be approved by Fitzgerald estate.

Faulkner was known as a popular shortshorty writer, and his popular novels, like: The sound and the Fury, written shortly after the outbreak of the First World War, as I lay dying, Absalom, Absalom, and many others. William Faulkner is said to be one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. His novels are generally based on the life of the state of Mississippi, which is the state where Faulkner was born and raised.Since an early age, Faulkner demonstrated an aptitude for oil painting back in his elementary school. Faulkner attended to the University of Mississippi where he enrolled into a popular fraternity which pushed his skills to the top. Faulkner dropped out of college in 1920 and attempted to enlist into the army, where he was denied admission due to his height (5’12), later on he enlisted into theBritish Royal Flying Corps. Faulkner was residing in Oxford when we wrote his very first novel, Soldier’s pay, influenced by Sherwood Andersons’ fictional writing. The majority of Faulkner’s work was published during the 1920’s but he became generally famous until he won the Nobel Prize of Literature in 1949.
