Biotechnology definitions.
Modern Biotechnology has just arrived to science and pursues big objective for human development, in these years many definitions have been stated trying to enclose thewide range of applications of biotechnology frontiers.
In Mexico, the Instituto Politecnico Nacional developed a book to enhance biotechnology carrier and professionals. In this book it is stated thatbiotechnology was a field of knowledge driven to the production of goods and services by means of the use of biological systems or their products. The authors separated traditional and modernbiotechnology by use of very specific knowledge and technology from microbiology, biochemistry, genetics and bioengineering sciences to approach, mainly, bioprocess development.
Modern Biotechnology has alsobeen defined in Mexico as a multidisciplinary activity, that feeds from frontier knowledge from diverse knowledge areas as molecular biology, biochemical engineering, microbiology and immunology,which allows a complete study of biological systems and their manipulation. With this tools, modern biotechnology searches for an intelligent and respectful use of biodiversity to attack human problemswith efficient, clean and competitive solutions.
There are some other more general different definitions for biotechnology as just the manipulation of biological properties to produce goods for theiruse, here the difference are the principles involved in modern biotechnology.
Biotechnology has been described in many ways, Cambride Universitty published some others such as the application ofbiological organisms, systems or process to manufacturing and service industries or the deciphering and use of biological knowledge. Both definitions enclose the many visions and goals of modernbiotechnology and are applicable in many examples.
