Camiroaga his parents were Jorge Camiroaga Puch and María de la Luz Fernández Sternan; he was the second of three brothers. was of Basque, German, andPeruvian descent, since his paternal grandmother Irene Puch de Olazábal was born in Arequipa.
In 1981, while spending his vacations at the Juan Fernández Archipelago, a 14 year oldoffered himself to work as camera assistant for a TV crew from Televisión Nacional de Chile that was in the location, being his first ever interaction with TV.
Camiroaga completed hisprimary studies at Colegio San Ignacio, and his secondary studies at Colegio Marshall. In 1987 he completed studies of TV Production and Direction at Instituto Incacea. He also hadincomplete studies of journalism at Las Condes University, and theater at Academy of performance Fernando González Mardones.
In 1988 he started working professionally in television ascamera assistant at the press department of Red de Televisión Universidad de Chile (1988- 1991)
Camiroaga hosted several Televisión Nacional de Chile programmes, including morningtalk show Buenos Días a Todos since 2005, and late-night talk show Animal Nocturno. He also acted in some TV series, such as Jaque Mate and Rojo y Miel, in addition to two movies. Hostedtwice the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, the most important one in America, in its 2009 and 2010 editions.
On 2 September 2011, had an accident. On 9 September thesecretary Chadwick announced body remains rescued from the sea were identified by DNA tests as Camiroaga. On 12 September 2011, Camiroaga's remains were cremated in an intimate ceremony
