Biografia De Jose Juan Barea
José Juan "J.J." Barea Mora was born on June 26 1986 , born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Barea's height is listed as 6'0" by the NBA, said by her motherhe's real height is 5"11. Barea was a member of of The Boy Scouts of America troop number 790 for seven years. Then he moved to Miami, Florida after joining the Miami Tropics program. As part of theprogram , Barea joined The Miami Christian School , were he played senior high school basketball with the school's team. During the season the team won the class A1 state tittle. Barea averaged a 24.8points per game and was named The Player of the year on Miami-Dade's.
College Career:
Barea was a letterman at Northeastern University from 2002 to 2006. In 2005 and 2006, between junior andsenior, he was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's best point guard. Barea was selected to the All America's East First Team two times. Northeastern switched to the ColonialAthletic Association for his senior campaign and he earned All-CAA First Team honors. Barea finished his career as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 2,209 points. He also leftNortheastern as its second all time leader in assists 721 and leader in three-point scoring with 255 succesful shots made.
Career in Puerto Rico:
Barea started his professional career at the age of 17 in2001, playing in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional de Puerto Rico with the Indios de Mayagüez. He played in 13 games, averaging 2.1 ppg. In 2002 still playing for Mayagüez Indios for 14 games andaveraging 2.8 ppg. After a three year absence, Barea returned in 2006 to play for the Cangrejeros de Santurce, playing in 9 games and averaging 10.4 ppg, 2.7 apg, and 2.8 rpg.
