Resource Allocation in Marigold Seedlings
Results
Based on observations made on each of the high and low-density treatment of Marigoldplants that were planted, it was apparent to facilitate that the plants planted on the low-density treatment was greater in length in stems and roots. Additionally there was also greater in leaves and budcount than those Marigold seeds that were planted in a high-density container (see figures). The average length of the roots measure in the low-density plants was equivalent to 18.7cm, while on thehigh-density plants the average length was equivalent to 16.33cm (Fig. 3). Furthermore, the average length of the stems measure in this treatment for the low-density treatment was amount to be 2.67, asthe high-density treatment was equivalent for 2.48 (Fig. 1). Although growth of the Marigold seedlings were seen in both treatment, the mean of the traits that were measure in this experiment wassignificantly higher in the low-density containers than that of the high-density container. The leaves and bud counts had the same results as the high and low-density measurement on roots and stems. Theaverage leaf count was greater in the low density equivalent to 44.78, than in the high-density treatment of 35.22. As well as the bud counts which equal to .78 in low and .33 in high density.Discussion
This study was conducted to show some differences between the high-density treatment and the low-density treatment. The results of the growth on the Marigold plant high and low-densitytreatment had no significant differences according to the t-test that was calculated (Table 1). However, from this experiment we can see that the low-density treatment that contain fewer planted seeds ofMarigold than the high-density treatment, contain a higher average measurement on the plant traits.
