IRON CURTAIN, KHRUSHCHEV, JFK, CUBA, AND COLD WAR
First of all, we have got to go back, and we have to investigate about why Europe began to stay divided after the World War II, because is one of the most important events that still continue to affect to our current Europe.
The causes that led to the Cold War was that the Soviet Union wanted to spread communist ideology worldwide, whichalarmed the Americans, who in turn hated the political system, secondly, the acquisition of nuclear weapons by the Americans alerted the Soviets, the third cause, the two countries are awaiting the attack of the other, the fourth cause was that the American president had no special liking to Russian President Josef Stalin, and as the final cause, was that the Soviets feared that the United States usedto Western Europe as a base to attack the Soviet Union.
And the consequences were massive accumulation of large amounts of nuclear weapons and missiles by both armies were formed blocks NATO military and Varosvia Pact, this conflict reached destructive conflicts in Vietnam and Korea, the Soviet anointing collapsed due to economic weaknesses, they toppled the Berlin Wall and the Warsaw Pactdisintegrated, the Baltic states and some former Soviet republics gained independence, the United States became the only superpower in the world, and as the most important result, due to the impact of communism collapsed. For start, one of the most important ideas about it is the iron courtain. This iron courtain is the simbol the ideological conflict and physical boundary into two separate areas from theend of World War II (1945) until the end of the Cold War (1991). The most notable border was marked by the Berlin Wall and its Checkpoint Charlie which served as a symbol of the Curtain.  The Iron Curtain started in discontent in Poland, and continued in Hungary German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and Romania. Romania was the only country in Europe to violentlyoverthrow its communist regime. The Iron Curtain was built for separate the two bands of the World War II, and of the Cold War too. To summarize, the iron curtain was built in the middle of Germany, so that no one could escape of the socialist “paradise”. This confrontation took place at the political, ideological, economic, social, technological, military, informational.
The Missile Crisis inCuba is called the conflict between the United States, the Soviet Union and Cuba in 1962, by the U.S. discovery of Soviet nuclear missile bases on Cuban soil. In Russia it is called "Caribbean Crisis," while in Cuba it is called "October Crisis". Next to the Berlin Blockade are major crisis between the two countries during the Cold War and the de Cuba is where it was closer to nuclear war.
Otherimportant part is one of the main characters of this conflicto, who is Nikita Khrushchev, who was the URRS´s lider while the Cold War, he was first secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1953-1964) and President of the Council of Ministers (1958 to 1964).
And in other part, which in my opinion, is the most important in the present, is the presence of Cuba in this war. It all startedwith a visit to Cuba where Mikoyan signed a trade agreement between the two countries, and establish diplomatic relations. U.S. sees increasing the danger of a socialist country close to him, from its borders, so that organizes the Cubans who have left Cuba to escape the Castro regime to block the island economically. U.S. and USSR begin to exchange messages by letters, butnothing is able to decrease the tension. Cuba makes things worse when they starts shooting at U.S. ships, shooting down a U-2. On October 28 near the end of the crisis when Khrushchev agrees to remove missiles from Cuba, with the proviso that Kennedy lift the blockade against the island and not invade. The tension disappears, both play their part and Castro is disappointed because he think they...
