Communication Channel Scenarios
Thefollowing essay will be evaluated three different scenarios which will select the appropriate channel of communication for a particular situation. Also it will give a definition of what communication is andthe different channels.
The communication is defined as the process between the source and receiver, resulting in the transfer and understanding of its meaning. There are two types of communicationchannels of formal and informal. Formal channels are set by the organization and transmit messages that relate to the professional activities of members. Informal channels are personal or socialmessages. The communication flows vertically or laterally, the vertical dimension should be split in different directions up and down. Communication flowing from one level of a group or organization toanother lower level communication is called down. The communication flows up to a higher level of group or organization. Lateral communication takes place between members of the same workgroup, includingmembers of working groups of the same level, between managers of the same rank or between any equivalent staff in the horizontal (Robbins & Judge, 2011).
In the first scenario, I am theMarketing Manager for a new beverage; my working group and me have to develop a strategy for entering the new beverage into the global market. I need to give the task back to my team for the details and thetime to complete this task. I will use downward communication to inform my work team their task. This channel is the best choice, because this is the channel that a leader uses to communicate with alower level group.
