The idea of these papers is to show Colombia’s real information updated and understand Colombia’s actually situation. We will start with Colombia’s balance of trade, then we will show informationabout international investment position, continuing with international and aid, and lastly with Colombian GDP.
BALANCE OF TRADE
Balance of trade is the difference between exports and imports over aperiod of time. A positive balance of trade is a trade surplus and it is exporting more than is importing; a negative balance of trade is a deficit. If the account is in surplus, the country's netinternational asset position increases. If it has a deficit decreases the net international asset position. The Balance of Trade is identical to the difference between a country's output and its domesticdemand - the difference between what goods a country produces and how many goods it buys from abroad.
Colombia has a trade surplus equivalent to 270 Million USD in January of 2012.
From 1980 until2012, Colombia Balance of Trade averaged -72.2900 Million USD this means that it was importing more than it was exporting. Its highest point was in December of 2011 and its lowest point was in Novemberof 2008.
Colombia's major exports are petroleum, coffee, coal, nickel, gold and nontraditional exports (e.g. cut flowers, semiprecious stones, sugar, and tropical fruits). Colombia's major importsare industrial and transportation equipment, consumer goods, chemicals, paper products, fuels, and electricity. INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION
