Availability: is the probability that the system is operating at a specified time t.

Availability is the percentage of time that the equipment does not work andis not available to produce, but was scheduled to.

Other concept: The ability of a component or IT service (under combined aspects of its reliability, maintainability and maintenance support) toperform its required function at a stated instant or over a stated period of time.

Downtime: The period of time when something, such as a factory or a piece of machinery, is not in operation,especially as the result of a malfunction

An interval during which a machine is not productive, as during repair, malfunction, maintenance.
Downtime scheduled: the time that the team works according toplan production.
This time is taken to perform periodic maintenance actions, annual plant shutdowns, major repairs and routine maintenance.
Downtime unscheduled: is the time in hours that a team hasnot been programmed to produce.
Failure Rate: is the frequency with which an engineered system or component fails, expressed for example in failures per hour.
Mean down time (MDT): is the averagetime that a system is non-operational. This includes all downtime associated with repair, corrective and preventive maintenance, self-imposed downtime, and any logistics or administrative delays.Mean Time Between Failures MTBF is the mean of a distribution of product life calculated by dividing the total operating time accumulated by a "defined group" of devices within a given time period, bythe total number of failures in that time period.
MTBF is the mean time between failures during the useful life of the product.
