Ballet vs. Hip-hop
There are different ways to express the art; one of which is through dancing. In many parts of the world there are different dances which stand out almost like sports. There aretwo types of dance, Hip Hop and Ballet; they’re famous for their techniques and steps. They have several things in common, but basically will talk about the differences of each.
Hip hop is a streetdance style primarily performed to hip hop music. It includes a wide range of the styles notably like breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970’s and made popular by dance crews inthe United States. Ballet is a type of performance dance, that originated in the Italian Renaissance court of the 15th century, and which was further developed in France and Russia as a concert danceform. This genre of dance is very hard to master and requires much practice, focusing on Pointe work, flowing, and precise acrobatic movements.
The older hip-hop dance styles that were created in the1970’s include up rock, breaking, and the funk style. It was created in the Bronx, New York, incorporating dances that were popular in the 1960’s in African-American and Latino communities. In itsearliest form, it began as elaborations on James Browns “Good foot” dance which came out in 1972. Breaking at its period was not primarily floor oriented as seen today; it started out as top rock whichdancers perform while standing up. The Creation of classical ballet as we know it today occurred under Louis XIV. In the 1661 Louis founded the Royal Dance Academy which was charged with establishingstandards for the art of dance and certification of dance instructors. In the 20th, ballet had a strong influence on broader concert dance. In the United States, choreographer George Balanchinedeveloped what is now known neoclassical ballet.
