Quality Control of Filling Bottles with Real
Time Embedded Systems

ABSTRACT
In Peru there is a large number of small and mediumbusiness dedicated to the
production and export of wine, Pisco and others similar products, these business
have their quality control system based on visual inspection by an human operator,
whoperforms his work continuously over of all his working hours, this process due to
natural tiredness usually has flaws. To increase the competitive level of the
producers is necessary optimizing theirquality control minimizing the flaws in order
to comply with international trade rules and so access to better markets.
Currently, there are automated solutions for this control that use cameras anddigital
image analysis using a computer and specialized software. These devices usually are
expensive and are not affordable to small producers. In recent years, programmable
logic devices such asFPGAs have increased exponentially their level of integration
and flexibility, multiplying its power at the same time its relative price has declined,
for these reasons the adoption of thesecomponents in various industries has been
promoted. Diverse processes that previously had only application through the use of
complex computer systems are gradually migrating to embedded systems on chip(SoC) with a significant reduction in the price.
This paper proposes the development and implementation of a quality control system
in real time of the filling of bottles of wine through the use ofan embedded system
on a FPGA, which one made the whole process of image analysis from a small digital
camera and generates a graphical user interface that can be displayed on a monitor
