BALUARTE DE SANTIAGO.
El baluarte de Santiago fue el último de los ocho baluartes en construirse en el año de 1704, con él quedó prácticamente cerrado el recinto amurallado, su nombre le fue dado en honor a Santiago de Compostela o Santiago Matamoros, patrono de la conquísta para los españoles, A principios del Siglo XX, el Baluarte de Santiago fue demolido y lo que ahora conocemos es unaréplica, muy diferente al original Actualmente el jardín botánico "Xmuch Haltún" reúne gran variedad de la flora de la península, desde plantas comestibles hasta medicinales y de ornato.

Actualmente es el único al que se llega a través de una rampa modificada ya que el original daba hacia la calle. En el sótano, se encuentran dos crujías abovedadas que posiblementefuncionaron como prisión, al que llamaron “purguero” .Actualmente, es el Museo de la Ciudad en el cual se exhiben exposiciones fotográficas y maquetas relativas al desarrollo histórico de Campeche.

Construido a finales del siglo XVIII, el baluarte de San Pedro estuvo bajo la advocación del santo patrono de la iglesia católica, en el dintel de su entrada se pueden observar la tiara papal y las llaves del cielo. Durante el siglo XIX jugó un papel muy importante durante las batallas sostenidas contra el gobierno deMérida y contra el general Santa Anna. Su función, como la de los demás baluartes, era la de ser refugio de la tropa así corno depósito de pólvora y municiones. Se piensa que posiblemente en el siglo XVIII, la Santa Inquisición tuvo en él su sede, ya que en su parte superior se encuentra un purguero que servía para torturar a los prisioneros.
