a long time ago, somewhere in the cariamanga valley, in the province of loja,there lived a priest named guillermo.He was well-known in thecommunity for his way of preaching.
people used to ask him to come and bless their houses, children or land

after a while he heard the sinisterlaughter of a man. He felt as if it came from the small package. a thick a hoarse voice said. "Daddy, I've good teeth . Look at me at me,daddy." poor father guillermo; he thought that he was dying or the devil was pursuing him . the then , he heard hoarse voice again saying "daddy, ihave a tail and two horns. look at me, Daddy" in that very instant he felt that his clothes and the baby he was supposedly carrying were onfire.
While a priest tried to take off his robe to avoid burning to death, he could see how the "guagua auca", in other words, the devil disguisedas a baby, laughed with satisfaction.
the priest hurried his horse to full gallop and tried to get away from that place. However the devilchased him and kept on saying in the boy's voice: Daddy, don't leave me." The priest galloped faster and faster and left the devil far behind. Thelast thing he hear was"your faith and you values have saved you, but take care of yourself
ever since the loja country people know that is not agood idea to be out at night,alone, on the dark nigths of the cariamanga valley because the guagua auca is always looking for a father
