Digging into the past.
Introduction.
In ancient times men hunted and fished and gathered wild for their food. They had no permanent homes and travelled about for thousands of years in order to find enough to eat. But about eleven on twelve thousand years ago, some groups of people discovered that they could plant grain themselves and collect it when it ripened. This was the beginning ofagriculture and it meant that they had to say in one place while their grain was growing. So they began to build houses.
La excavación en el pasado. Introducción. En tiempos antiguos hombres cazaban y pescaban y salvaje por sus alimentos reunieron. No tenían viviendas permanentes y viajó sobre durante miles de años con el fin de encontrar suficiente para comer. Pero acerca de once a doce mil años,algunos grupos de personas descubrieron que podían plantar grano de sí mismos y recogerlo cuando madurado. Este fue el comienzo de la agricultura y que significaba que tenían que decir en un solo lugar mientras crecía su grano. Por lo que empezaron a construir casas.
Gradually a collection of houses grew into a village and then a town with a temple, and fortresses to protect them. Life became morecomplicated and people elected kings to rule them and invented writing to communicate with one another. They could afford and enjoy art and sculpture and jewellery. They built great buildings, created beautiful things and wrote books. We call this kind of life civilization.
Una colección de casas fue creciendo gradualmente en un pueblo y, a continuación, una ciudad con un templo y fortalezas paraprotegerlos. La Vida llegó a ser más complicada y el pueblo eligio reyes para gobernarlos e inventaron la escritura para comunicarse entre sí. Podían permitirse y disfrutar arte y esculturas y joyas. Civilization as we know it began in the Middle east more than5,000 years ago. It is very hot and dry there and crops grow quickly where rivers bring water. It was there, beside those rivers, that the first towns were built and the first kingdoms developed.
Along the banks of the Nile River, the ancient Egyptians developed their civilization. It lasted for about 3,000 years –half as long again as the time from jesus Christ until today- . the ruins of theirmassive temples pyramids and tombs still stand beside the Nile, decorated with the pictures and signs of their hieroglyphic writing.
Civilización como sabemos que comenzó en el Oriente Medio hace más de 5.000 años. Está muy caliente y seco allí y cultivos crecen rápidamente donde ríos llevar agua. Fue allí, al lado de los ríos, que se construyeron las primeras ciudades y desarrollaron de los reinosprimeros.
A lo largo de las orillas del río Nilo, los egipcios desarrollaron su civilización. Duró alrededor de 3.000 años –half como mucho una vez más como el tiempo de jesus Cristo hasta hoy-. las ruinas de sus pirámides de masiva de templos y tumbas todavía de pie al lado del Nilo, decorado con las imágenes y los signos de su escritura jeroglífica.

About the same time and a thousand milesaway, in the valley of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in the land now called Iraq, a series of ancient kingdoms rose and flourished and conquered their neighbours. Then in their turn, they were conquered, and all that remains are the large steep mounds of earth which covered the ruins of their towns, built one on top of the other until hills were formed. Buried in those ruins were the beautifulobjects they had made and libraries full of their stories history and learning.
