Venezuela esta dividida poliacutetica yterritorialmente en Estados, estos estados a su vez se dividen de igual manera en municipios y parroquias, cada una de estas divisiones posee un representante poliacutetico. Venezuelanbspes unanbspRepuacuteblica federalnbspdividida en 23 Estados, elnbspDistrito Capitalnbsp(que comprende parte de la ciudaddenbspCaracas) las Dependencias Federales (islas, en su mayoriacutea deshabitadas) y los Territorios Federales, el Estado venezolano reclama el territorio denominadonbspGuayana Esequibanbspo Zona en Reclamacioacuten.br /
Los Estados federales, son iguales en lo poliacutetico y poseen las mismas competencias, cada uno tiene un Gobernador (jefe del ejecutivo regional), un Gabinete de Secretarios, unSecretario de Gobierno, un Procurador, unConsejo Legislativo (Parlamento regional que aprueba leyes estadales), un Contralor, Policiacutea, Bandera, Escudo, Himno y una Constitucioacuten propia (excepto el Distrito Capital, Dependencias Federales y los Territorios Federales), ya que estos tienen rango federal.br /
A nivel nacional cada estado estaacute representado en la Asamblea Nacional deacuerdo a su poblacioacuten por un sistema de representacioacuten proporcional, y adicionalmente como miacutenimo cada estado elige 3 diputados.br /
