The Man Who Counted

is a book with a recreationalmathematics and curious word problems was write by Brazilian writer Júlio César de Mello e Souza, published under the name Malba Tahan, the book has beenimmensely popular in schools and abroad, not only amongmathematics teachers but among the general public as well.

Is a serie of tales in the style of theArabian Night, but solving mathematical problems and curiosities, the first two chapters tells how our main chacter Malba Tahan meet with another importantcharacter Beremiz. Among the travel to Bahgad this two characters envolve in many situations and that friend Malba solve with no problem, he solve it in alogical way, The rest of the book tells various incidents that befell the two men along the road and in Baghdad. In all those events, Beremiz Samir uses hisabilities with calculation like a magic wand to amaze and entertain people, settle disputes, and find wise and just solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems.2. I believe this work is in motivating aspect of mathematics that makes us understand how important it is, because it looks like the estimator isrewarded only with master mathematics, to the point that offer castles or vizier, but chooses love.

The author of this work (Malba Tahan) has broughttogether on a text, the ability, reasoning and mathematical complexity and subtlety, softness, and (for me) entertainment, since this work has fascinated me.
