Driade is an aesthetic workshop that advances research into all aspects of the theme of habitation: finished furniture, equipment, complimentary furnishings and objects. The search for creativity in every product constitutes the verymeaning of the company Driade. De Fusco wrote in 1988, in Il gioco del design (“The design game”): “The cultural factor in Driade is not merely a production tool, but the very reason for production.” The world of Driade has developed over time from container systems to finished furniture, from from objects (1989) to complimentary furnishings (1995). Today it is divided into three brands: driade (Thephilosophy of habitation); driadestore (The light-weight house); and driadekosmo (The world of objects). These four worlds each have their own research identity and spirit, and together they make up the infinite and possible Driade houses. Such as in an intriguing and precious house of today, where the different furniture, fittings, paintings, curious objects, and novel combinations all speak to usabout the people who live there; they tell us about their thoughts, their culture, their history and their way of life. It is the opposite of the predictability of collectors’ houses, or houses entirely designed in a single style, where the same theme is repeated to infinity. Today this seems scarcely with the times, because eclecticism, contradictoriness, cultural collage, curiosity and surpriserepresent the real sense of our age and current lifestyles. Just like Driade. Driade registers the spirit of the times, which although very different from the years that saw its birth is nonetheless very rich in stimuli and young management, with the introduction of the second generation into the company, Elisa Astori, to launch Driade towards new scenarios. The many stories of Driade, which aresometimes parallel and sometimes divergent, but more often intertwined, represent the story of a passion. Cultivated by a small family group now enlarged to the second generation, Driade has developed into an extended family of collaborators and friends spread around the world, sharing the idea that habitation can always become a pleasure rather than being mere necessity. With the certainty that theaesthetic workshop of Driade is young, the story will continue.

Driade è un laboratorio estetico che sviluppa una ricerca sul tema dell’abitare nella sua globalità: mobili finiti, attrezzature, complementi, oggetti. La ricerca della creatività in ogni prodotto costituisce il senso stesso dell’impresa Driade. De Fusco scrisse nel 1988, ne Il gioco del design: “il fattore culturale in Driade non èsolo uno strumento per produrre, ma la ragione stessa della produzione ”. Il mondo Driade, che è andato declinandosi nel tempo dal sistema di contenimento, al mobile finito, agli oggetti (1989), ai complementi (1995), oggi è suddiviso in tre marchi: driade (La filosofia dell’abitare); driadestore (La casa leggera); driadekosmo (Il mondo degli oggetti). I tre“mondi” hanno ciascuno una propriaidentità di ricerca ed un’anima, tutti insieme compongono le infinite e possibili case Driade. Come in un’intrigante e preziosa casa di oggi, dove i mobili diversi, gli arredi, i quadri, gli oggetti curiosi, gli accostamenti inediti, ci parlano delle persone che la abitano e raccontano i loro pensieri, la loro cultura, la loro storia e il loro modo di vivere. L’inverso della prevedibilità delle case deicollezionisti, dove lo stesso tema è ripetuto all’infinito, e delle case interamente progettate in un solo stile, oggi un pò fuori tempo: perché l’eclettismo, la contraddittorietà, l’insieme delle culture, la curiosità, la sorpresa rappresentano il senso vero della nostra epoca e degli stili di vita attuali.
