How To Install Windows XP on Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU

For consumer notebooks, especially Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU, HP does not support XP anymore and no drivers for XP are posted in their FTP site.
 
This article provides guide on how to install Microsoft Windows XP and device drivers on Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU Notebook PC. However, I, as the author of this article has NO affiliationwhatsoever with HP or Microsoft. This article is intended to Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU users who want Microsoft Windows XP hives on their machine. Notes :
• Before starting, please consider using Windows XP Professional edition SP2 since HP produced most of the drivers based on that system. I, as the author also use that version of windows and running fine on my CQ41-110AU Notebook until the day I wrote this article.
• All of thedriver are the latest version and has been tested by HackMachine Lab. and reported work nicely on Windows XP Professional edition SP2.

1. [ Slipstreaming ]
To install Windows XP on Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU, first time you have to do is integrating or slipstreaming SATA driver to Windows XP installation disk to let the installer recognize the hard drives.

2. [ Chipsets ]
Once the Windows XP installation is done, now you have to install the device driver for your device to work on Windows XP. First driver that you have to install is the chipsets driver.
You can download Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU ATISouthBridge driver for Windows XP here. (ATI SMBus Ver. 5.10.1000.8)
Don’t forget to restart your system after installing the driver.
 
3. [ Audio ]
Next step after installing chipset, to make your Audio Hardware recognized by Windows XP, you have to install Windows XP patch named MS-UAA before you can install the Audio Driver.
You can download MS-UAA for Windows XPSP2 here. (kb888111)
Install the patch, restart the machine and then proceed with installing the Audio Driver. Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU consist of 2 audio devices, IDT HD audio and Realtek HDMI. I recommend to install IDT HD Audio first before installing Realtek HDMI. Don’t forget to restart system after installing each driver.

4. [ VGA ]
Done with step 3, we have to activate the powerfull capability of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 on your notebook. I have recompiled the driver to fit on Compaq Presario CQ41-110AU Notebook PC and repackagedit for easier installation.

I’ve tried manyother newer version but none of them work except this version. So I highly recommend to use this version. Please report if any of you succeed to install newer version of ATI Catalyst Control Center.
