Drug Abuse

Drug abuse is a common problem in many countries. Millions of dollars are spent internationally; this money is used in drug prevention, treatment for addicts and the fight againstdrug-related crime. Though the drugs are present and threaten many societies, their impacts can be addressed. This essay examines some effects of drug use and suggests some possible solutions.
Drug abusecauses many problems around the world. Medical and psychological effects are obvious. Addicted people cannot act as normal members of society. These people neglect or abuse their family, requiringexpensive treatments. Other effect not least is the crime. Large police resources are used to combat smuggling. Criminal groups and the mafia are developed with money from drugs.
Nevertheless themenace of drugs can control or prevent. Education is the first step of prevention and children and young people need information about the effects of drugs. It is the duty of all persons aware of thedamage and the effects that drugs cause to avoid this problem. A second way to prevent drug abuse is to increase the police personnel and thus stop the distributors and that the law is fulfilled, but themain goal should be the user. Parents, educators and society in general should be directed to children, youth and people at risk. The menace of drugs can control or prevent. Education is the firststep of prevention and children and young people need information about the effects of drugs. It is the duty of all persons aware of the damage and the effects that drugs cause to avoid this problem. Asecond way to prevent drug abuse is to increase the police personnel and thus stop the distributors and that the law is fulfilled, but the main goal should be the user. Parents, educators, and societyin general should be directed to children, youth.
