Drug Trafficking
Drug trafficking is defined as the transportation, distribution, commercial trade or hold (in excess for personal consumption) of illegal drugs and everything involved in the consumption and elaboration of a drug.
Narcotics are natural or synthetic substances that can cause severe consequences to the human. In the past, cultures used drugs like the marijuana and opium as partof spiritual rituals and ceremonies to relaxation and obtain hallucinations to speak with their gods.
Today there are numerous types of drugs but the most popular are:
* Cocaine
* Marijuana
* Heroin
* Methamphetamine
* LSD
* MDMA (Ecstasy)
* Inhalants
Most of the drugs are cultivated and processed in third world countries like Southeast Asia, Middle East andSouth America and then the product is introduced to the destination country, the most popular are Europe and the United States. Drug lords mostly use 3 ways to smuggle narcotics into countries, these are:
* Aerial Trafficking
* Consist in the usage of public or private planes, jets or any aerial device as transportation for narcotic substances
* Marine Trafficking
*Consist in the usage of marine vehicles such as speed boats, ships, submarines, etc. for narcotic transportation hidden in a container or somewhere else within the ship.
* Ground Trafficking
* Consist in the usage of vehicles or other means of road transportation for smuggling narcotics.
There is a “new” way to smuggle drugs across borders, this is by individuals wrapping the packageto their body or introducing little packages in to it, most of the time in the stomach to make trafficking easier but a lot of the time this result in fail intents because the packages can get rip inside and cause serious injuries or even the death of the person trying to elude border and airport security inspection that is getting more and more intensive each day trying to prevent this type ofcrime.
Mexico is the country that provides the most quantities of drug in to the United States; the drug business has evolved from just trafficking with marijuana, opium and cocaine, to the production and distribution of synthetic narcotics. Such business has cause a series of intense violence waves, trying to gain control over territories and routs of trafficking in order to move more drugs andgain more money.
There are 7 drug cartels with more presence in Mexico these are:
The Sinaloa Cartel (In charge of Palma-Guzman Loera), The Tijuana Cartel (In charge of Arellano Felix), The Juarez Cartel (In charge of Carrillo Fuentes), The Gulf Cartel (In charge of Osiel Cardenas), The Colima Cartel (In charge of Amezcua Contreras), The Milenio Cartel (In charge of Valencia), The Oaxaca Cartel(In charge of Diaz Parada).

The United States effort to reduce drug trafficking has become more intense applying cutting edge technology, such as mobile x-ray vans, radiation scanners, trained dogs that can smell numerous types of drugs and bombs, but the most effective weapon are the agents in the borders, their personal intuition when something is out of place or they just feel likesomething is wrong with the drivers attitude. They seize millions of dollars in cocaine, marijuana, heroin and other drug every year but yet smugglers seem to not learn the leason even after they get arrested. Here is a chart with penalties information about trafficking.
