Continental shelf was incorporated into the country in 1959 the platform covering sea surface bounded by a line 200 feet deep is internationally recognized as a limited sea area 12 miles
Exclusive Economic Zone: thedifference between 200 and 12 miles
Limits or boundaries of the Mexican mainland are:
North USA
To the east the Gulf of Mexico
Southeast Guatemala and Belize
In western and southern Baja California and the Pacific Ocean
Terrain (orografia): mountain system covering important national territory
Key features highlight Mexican soil: plain & mountainous system
Major mountain chain:
SierraMadre Occidental: one of the most important and extensive travels the country by the states of Chihuahua, Sonora, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Durango and Nayarit
Sierra Madre Oriental runs from Coahuila and Nuevo Leon to Oaxaca
Sierra Madre del Sur: from isthmus runs west along the Pacific coast
System or Volcanic Belt: is also known as mountain Neovolcanic or Neovolcánica
Sierra de Baja California:California begins and ends in Mexico by the Baja California peninsula has a length of 1250km
Sierra de Chiapas Ostuta born in eel river and ends at the border of Guatemala
Hydrografia: composed of rivers lakes and ponds, rivers are classified deacuerdon with where flowing
Pacific slope: river colorado river sonora
Gulf Slope: rio bravo rio conchos
Weather: set of meteorological phenomena thatcharacterize the atmospheric state.

CHAPTER 2: COUNTRY'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
Mexico is a capitalist, dependent and slow country.
Goodwill (plusvalia): surplus generated by workers and which is appropriated by capitalists.
Constant Capital: means of production such as buildings, machinery, etc..
Variable Capital: the paying to the workforce.
Main contradiction of capitalism: socialproduction and appropriation of private gain.
Dependency: relationship of subordination or subjection of one nation over another. Main characteristics:
* Increasing penetration of foreign direct investment by transnational corporations.
* We need the supply of foreign technology

Backward (atraso): decrease or reverse of the process of economic and social development. Can be seen at allaspects of our country:
- Low income per capita.
- Low level of culture.
- Poor conditions of housing.
- Low levels of productivity and competitiveness.
Economic growth: can be observable and measurable. It means an increase in a country's economic activities is manifested in the expansion of the productive forces. That is, the expansion of the labor force, capital, production, sales and trade.Economic development: This is the process by which countries move from a backward state of its economy to an advanced stage. This represents better living standards for the population. - Improvement in the quality of food - Increase in housing, etc.
Expressions of economic development: increased production and productivity and increased real income per capita.
Sustainable development: isdevelopment that meets the essential needs of the present without compromising the ability to meet those of future generations.
Mexico was considered capitalist approximately from the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
