Eid’ul-Adha
Eid’ul-Adha is the day when Muslims celebrate the submission of Ibrahim with Allah. Some people think it is one of the most important Muslims celebrations. Itcelebrated after peregrinations to La Mecca. People often call it the Festival of Sacrifice. Usually it is celebrated with many people and in all the communities. It is the lastof two Eid’s. Eid is a Word that means ¨Solemn Festival¨.
The celebration known as Eid’ul-Adha is based in the Jewish and Catholic traditions, because in the Tura and theBible, God (Allah) asks to Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son in his holy name but when he was about to kill him an angel stopped his hand and put a goat in his son’s place.Although the Islam tradition is a little bit different. Actually the Muslim sacred book (Qur’an) says that around four thousand years ago the valley of Mecca was a dry, rocky,desert, and inhabited Place were Ibrahim was commanded to go with his wife Hagar and his only son then: Ishmael from the land of Canaan. When Ibrahim was preparing to return toCanaan, Hagar asked him if Allah had commanded to leave them there or if he was just leaving them there to die. Ibrahim was too sad to say anything so he answered pointing to sky tosay that it was Allah who commanded him. Hagar then said that if it was true then Allah would not kill them. So Ibrahim left in peace. As the time passed every day they werereducing the supplies until they got nothing. And after two days they started to feel the pain of hunger and dehydration. Hagar ran seven times between two hills for water untilshe collapsed at the feet of Ishmael praying for mercy after that a great fountain started to flow from the underground but without a hole. This was called the well of Zamzam
