Emancipation: A Life Fable

This story details the life of an animal that is born in a cage. He lives a comfortable and lazy life without any preoccupation because all his basic needs werefulfilled by an invisible protecting hand. One day, the door of his cage is opened by accident and discovering an unexpected world, he could not help feeling attracted but scared. After much hesitation, hetakes the risk and leaves the cage, beginning to experience everything life has to offer. Despite all the difficulties he has to face, he chooses not to return to the cage.

According to theMerriam-Webster Dictionary “to emancipate” can be defined as:
1- to free from restraint, control, or the power of another; especially : to free from bondage
2- to release from paternal care andresponsibility and make sui juris
3- to free from any controlling influence (as traditional mores or beliefs)

From the title, we can infer that the character of the story will be an animal with humancharacteristics because of the word “fable”. A fable is a literary genre that features animals, plants, inanimate objects or forces of nature which are anthropomorphized (given human qualities such asverbal communication) and that illustrates or leads to an interpretation of a moral lesson (a "moral"). In this case, the moral would be about life. In addition to this, based on the definition above,the word “emancipation” conveys the freedom of the animal, starting a new life. It is important to highlight that one of the restrictions of this word is that it only allows animate participants.

Thestory is a narrative whose structure is divided into three parts:
-The beginning: the character and the setting are introduced in the first and second paragraphs.
