A goal can be met following the path least expected and lead an entire country to be united. On 2 February, 1990, Nelson Mandela is released from Victor Verster Prison after 27 years spentin jail. Four years later, Mandela is elected the first black President of South Africa. His presidency faces enormous challenges, including rampant poverty and crime. Mandela is particularlyconcerned about racial divisions between black and white South Africans, which could lead to violence. The ill will which both groups hold towards each other is seen even in his own security detail whererelations between the established white officers and the black security detail, are frosty and marked by mutual distrust.
Mandela sees a path and a goal. While he was attending a party of theSpringboks, the country's rugby team, Mandela recognized that blacks do not identify with the team because most of the players are white. I analyze this as the first key point of the movie. The president seessports a powerful tool for their presidential goals. I want to focus mainly on the vision of the President, he knows that his country has many problems applying for his intervención yet he prefersto focus in a rugby team, finishing and hopeless. This is because he knows that the country joining in a dream like the World Cup can make they forget their problems and get back to feeling the samecountry despite their skin color. In one scene you can see that Mandela seeks to enthuse the team captain, who does not have much faith in it is possible to win the world championship, talking abouthis time in prison and he used to read the poem, Invictus.
A real man who identifies with an entire country. Mainly I see a man who constantly seeks to unite and raise awareness of the power ofvisualization and hope.
