I. How did the oil expropriation of 1938 affect Mexico’s economy?
II. Problems with government purchasing private land for oilexploration.
A. Land owners devalued their land because of tax purposes.
a. Land owners devalued their land so they would not have to pay large taxes but the government purchased theirland in the value of how they were registered for taxes.
b. Because land owners devalued their land they did not get paid full value for their land.
III. Increase of jobopportunities as oil fields were discovered.
A. People who were unemployed obtained wages and contributed to Mexico’s economy.
a. Men with new jobs obtained new wages and spent money on goods,helping the economy.
b. Money that was not spent was saved in banks; the banks used the money for investing, increasing bank profits.
B. Unemployment decreased due to more job openings.a. More jobs were available to men that did not have employment. This increased the Mexican family’s happiness.
b. Poverty statues of the country increased because of the increase of jobopportunities.
IV. Foreign capitalist that owned 90% of Mexican oil, formed a boycott.
A. Effectiveness of Mexican oil boycott.
a. How successful was the boycott for foreigncountries that implemented this action.
b. President Cardenas reaction towards the boycott. Cardenas was not affected much because Mexico was one of the biggest exporters of oil.
B.Relationship between Mexico and foreign countries after boycott.
a. Mexico began doing business as before with foreign countries and is still doing business with some of the foreign countries.b. The boycott did not affect the Cardenas administration negatively; foreign countries should have never created the boycott because of its very little affect.
V. Conclusion
