The automobile company which we are going to work is Citroën. Citroën is a major French automobile manufacturer. It was founded in 1919 by French industrialist André-Gustave Citroën. In the 1970’s, Peugeot took Citroen over and the group “PSA Peugeot-Citroen” was created.
Now we are going to make a report about the externalanalysis of this company. The strategic analysis can be done by the study of Citroën´s environment.
The several factors that compose the environment can be divided in two groups: general and competitive.
Firstly we are going to analyze the general environment factors of Citroën, which are several factors that affect all companies independently the sector in which operates, through PESTEL analysis inthe automobile sector.
PESTEL analysis of any industry sector investigates the important factors that are affecting the industry and influencing the companies operating in that sector. It provides us much information to decide about the success and failure of the company decisions.
Further, by this size PESTEL helped us to identify the opportunities and threats caused by these factors dependingon its positive or negative influence respectively.
In this analysis we can distinguish different types of factors: Political, Economic, Socio-cultural, Technological, Environmental and Legal. Then will realize a delimiting factor, describing the evolution of the factors and threats and opportunities affecting Citroen.
-Political:
-The pricing policy will not change because it is currentlyone of the best-selling manufacturers in Spain are leaders in private and light commercial vehicles with the Berlingo. Thanks to his policy, families can buy cars at a reasonable price.
-Economical: Due to the economic crisis last years happened a decrease in the solds in the automotive sector, and due to this happened a fall down on the benefits. Because of this many of companies have had toclose. In 2013 the plant will increase production by 100,000 vehicles and that projections for 2014 are better. Since 2008, PSA Peugeot Citroën Argentina is linked with the NGO Green Helmets. This NGO trains young people with intellectual disabilities to become trainers in issues related to environment. This year, in a program launched by theMinistry of Labor's Office, in conjunction with Adeei, the company added two youths of NGOs in the areas of internal communication and staff management.
