Istruments of biology



o Microscopes- Microscopes of various powers are the most common of the biology lab equipments used in bioo labs to see organisms and samples more closely. These biolab tools make even the smallest parts of a single cell seem clear.
o Slides- In a biology lab, cells are gently smeared onto a glass slide, treated with a fixative so that the cellular componentdoesn’t move. They are then seen with microscopes for clarity.
o Test Tubes- These are yet another essential bio lab equipments used for placing fluid and particles and even solutions are added inthem for different experimental needs.
o Petri Dishes- These biology lab tools- the petri dishes- are mostly used to culture the samples in the lab. To create a cultured sample, a petri dishcontaining a culture medium is inoculated, or smeared and pressed, onto the medium.
o Forceps- These biology lab equipment are used to hold tissue out of the way or to pick up a structure.
oScalpel- It is a sharp bladed lab tool that neatly splits open skin and cut through muscle and organs.Scalpel is extensively used for dissection in biology laboratories.
o Beakers- A beaker is used when thesolution mixed in needs to be poured into some other dish or somewhere else.
o Flasks- These are the substitue lab equipment used in place of beakers. Flasks have a narrow neck and are used whenthe solution might splash out of a beaker or when the solution in them needs to be plugged at some point during the experiment. Boiling flasks are used for heating substances that need to be heatedevenly.
o Probe- A probe is used to remove connective tissue or to lift a structure before it is dissected.
o Bunsen burners- A Bunsen burner is one of the heat sources used in a biology laboratory.These cylinders like structures are attached to a gas line. When the gas line is opened, a spark ignites a flame in the Bunsen burner to give out heat.
