* -Recuerda que en las respuestas cortashay que usar los pronombres y nunca los nombres.

Opinion:
cuando utilizas el pasado simple en una oración afirmativa 
ej: I went to the beach = Yo fui a la playa utilizas el verbo en pasado
Como pregunta
Did I go to the beach? = Fui yo a la playa?el verbo lo usas en presente xq ya estas usando el auxiliar DID que nosindica pasado. 
Oración negativa:
No, I didn´t go to the beach = No, yo no fui a la playa

Were>> you, we, they
I was playing football = Yo estaba jungando fotball
We were playing football = Nosotros estabamos jugando fotball
I was happy = Yo fui feliz
You were happy = Ustedes eran felices
Como veras todos estos los usas para referirte alpasado tal vez si te dejaron escribir un relato en pasado no es posible que siempre uses el pasado simple por eso tambien vas a utilizar el was and were
