FIRST CONDITIONAL

First Conditional: real possibility / Primer Condicional: posibilidad real
We are talking about the future. We are thinking about a particular condition or situation in the future, and the resultof this condition. There is a real possibility that this condition will happen. For example, it is morning. You are at home. You plan to play tennis this afternoon. But there are some clouds in thesky. Imagine that it rains. What will you do?
Estamos hablando del futuro. Estamos pensando en una determinada condición o situación en el futuro, y el resultado de esta condición. Hay una posibilidadreal de que esta condición sucederá. Por ejemplo, es por la mañana. Usted está en su casa. Usted va a jugar al tenis por la tarde. Pero hay algunas nubes en el cielo. Imagínese que llueve. ¿Qué vas ahacer?

Notice that we are thinking about a future condition. It is not raining yet. But the sky is cloudy and you think that it could rain. We use the present simpletense to talk about the possible future condition. We use WILL + base verb to talk about the possible future result. The important thing about the first conditional is that there is a real possibilitythat the condition will happen. Here are some more examples (do you remember the two basic structures: [IF condition result] and [result IF condition]?):
Nótese que estamos pensando en un estadofuturo. No está lloviendo todavía. Pero el cielo está nublado y usted piensa que podría llover. Usamos el presente simple para hablar de la condición futura posible. Utilizamos WILL + verbo de base parahablar sobre el resultado futuro posible. Lo importante de la primera condicional es que hay una posibilidad real de que la condición sucederá.
