Introduction
This is an amazing sport. In this for first time in the history of this sport they are 20 GPs (they are the races; they are named Grand Prixes because they are big events for this sport) around the world. It started on March 18 in Melbourne, Australia and the championship will be finish on November 25 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It’s a competition of first generation carsthat are able to run at 350 kilometers per hour. The races have durations of 1 hour and 30 minutes and 2 hours but if the weather isn´t good the race is going to be stoped and then restarted when the track is fine; or in a very bad situation will be finished before the laps are compleated.


Development

Aerodynamics
A modern Formula 1 car is closer to a jet fighter than a sports car or aroad car. Aerodynamics has become the key of the sport because with it, the cars are able to run at high speed sometimes so closer to 350 kilometers per hour. For this reason the teams of this sport spend tens of millions of dollars on it.

Recently, the cars´ aerodynamics has become so important that they now have the DRS (Drag Reduction System) rear wing. It can be used on practices andqualifying races unless the driver is on wet-tyres; and in the race, after the second lap and if the driver is less than a second of distance from the driver that is in front of him, the DRS time on race is controlled by an electric system, it starting up when the driver wants to activate it at beginning of a part a lap and it turning off when the driver breaks. This new application is controlled by theFederación Internacionl de Automovilismo (FIA) or in English International Automobile Association.


Brakes
The brakes of Formula 1 cars are very special that they are made from carbon fibre and they only weigh around 1.5 kilograms and they are able to bear temperatures over 1000 degrees Celsius .



Tyres
Recently, the tyres are P-ZERO tyres for dry weather and for wet weather areCINTURATO tyres of PIRELLI. These types of tyres are made to last around only 120 kilometers (numbers are changed by a lot of factors). Pirelli has: the super-soft tyres, soft tyres, medium tyres and hard tyres for dry weather; and for wet weather: intermediate tyres (they are able to divert 30 litters per second) and full wet tyres (they are able to divert 60 litters per second).

Kinetic EnergyRecovery System (KERS)
It is the part that gives the last and the most amazing force for the engine, for that it’s possible to use it only for 6.67 seconds per lap because if you give more time, the engine maybe will get on fire.

Engine
For the teams in this category the engine is very important but all of them are controlled. The biggest engines are the 2.4 V8 and the teams that have them arethose that have Ferrari, Mercedes or Renault´s engines.

Fuel
It is surprisingly so very close to the usual gas that the sports and road cars use. The marks of fuel that have that are more used in the formula 1 are TOTAL (the mayor quantity use ELF), SHELL and MOBIL 1; they are controlled because every country that they go, they have different types of gas; and the fuel is controlled for all theteams because the idea of the category is to have the same opportunities to be the champion.


Track
Tracks in the Formula 1 are divided in 3 sections. The majority of them are between 4 and 5 kilometers long (the entire lap). They are 20 tracks in the calendar to visit; with this we can enjoy amazing races.
The tracks in which everyone wants to win are: Monaco, Abu-Dhabi, Spa-Francorchamps,Monza, Suzuka and Singapour.

Race
Races are very exciting and are in very amazing tracks to run. The drivers of the Formula 1 are very trained to act without thinking, so, they have cat-like reflexes .For these events the government of the city and country in charge spent a lot of money in the race and preparations of the race.
