Francisco Vázquez de Coronado was a Spanish Conquistador looking for fortune in the new world. Tobe more specific he was looking for the mythical Seven Cities of Gold, Cibola. The Conquistador travelled from inner Mexico and went towards the bottom of the current United States ofAmerica in search of Cibola. He was never able to find the mythical cities of gold but on his main and secondary expeditions he encountered the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River andseveral native tribes such as the Zuni. This village plays a crucial role since by the time Coronado’s army got there they were starving and suffering, the local natives didn’t let themhave either supplies or intelligence. This caused a battle know as The Battle for Cibola were Coronado got hurt and was forced to stay until he healed his wounds.
Coronado and his squadwere among the first Europeans to see many remarkable land features in the Americas, this being the Great Canyon and the Colorado River. He also showed how the Spanish greed has nolimits to the locals, always in search of a city or place full of riches such as Cibola and Quivira, which he found but there wasn’t a single piece of gold there. He didn’t found anyoutstanding treasure but he sure did have the privilege to see illustrious landscapes of the unexplored New World. Coronado is probably one of the Conquistadors like many others that came tothe Americas in search of riches, and he sure was determined to find something valuable. Any legend or myth that talked about gold and jewels was his specialization and besides that hefound one of the greatest landmarks of the United States. He sure did great discoveries and confirmed the false riches of Quivra and Cibola, which he never was close to find.
