A Word from the Developers First of all we would like to thank you for your purchase. We enjoy making games and are pleasedto know you enjoy playing them. When we sat down and initially worked on the concept to Midnight Racing, it wasn’t in fact racing at midnight. However when relating our various driver-stories, we quickly realized that most people get more fun out of night-time driving than negotiating the roads during daylight. Certainly, one of the prime factors is the lack of traffic at times like midnight andbeyond into the small hours of the morning; roads these days are often not much more than a slowly advancing parking lot. However, the darkness, emptiness, solitude and the quiet of nighttime driving make it a wholly different experience. There is nothing quite like whizzing along an empty road and a pumping rock song on your car stereo! The various lights involved – your own cars’, the othervehicles’, the street lights and the approaching traffic’s – make a significant difference to your ride and also to the way you drive. Overtaking one car when you have seen its rear lights ahead of you get closer and closer, then overtaking and again having no-one in front of you feels much like overtaking three cars at daytime. Judging the distance of the oncoming traffic also is much more difficultwhen they are blinding you with their headlights. Dangerous, adrenaline-pumping stuff! In short: The kind of stuff you want to do on your computer where you get more than just one life. So, we planned the nighttime racing title you have just purchased. Thomas, the programmer, and Petteri, the artist, spent a lot of time sitting by roads, bridges and motorways in Finland, where IncaGold Developmentis based, watching traffic and generating realistic graphics, artificial intelligence models and studying lighting effects. They also spent a good few nights driving at high speeds, too, but lets not mention that … All in the name of computer game development.
