Free Trade Agreement
A Free Trade Agreement (FTA) consists of a regional or bilateral commercial agreement to extend the market of goods and services between the participantcountries. Basically, it consists of the elimination or it reduces substantial of the tariffs for the goods between the parts, and agreements in the matter of services. This agreement is in force bythe rules of the World-wide Organization of Comercio (OMC) or by mutual agreement between the countries. The first TLC was the Treaty Franco-British of free commerce (or Treated about Cobden-Chevalier)signed in 1860 and that also introduces the clause of favored nation more.

Objectives
* To eliminate barriers that affect or decrease the commerce.
* To promote the conditions for a rightcompetition.
* To increase the investment opportunities.
* To provide a protection adapted to the rights of intellectual property.
* To establish effective processes for thestimulation of the national production.
* To foment the cooperation between friendly countries.
* To offer a solution to controversies.

Advantages
* An access without tariffs to the United Statesfor almost the 100 percent of the exportable Colombian industrial supply, which must not only maintain the present use in the sector but generate new places.
* The generation of legal stabilityfor the investors and the positioning like a platform from entrance to the USA for the industralists of third parties countries (which is due to translate in greater national and foreign investment inthe nation, although in an amount difficult to quantify with exactitude).
