Youth
In 1581 Galileo entered the University of Pisa, as a medical student at the will of his father. Four years later he left theuniversity without having obtained any title, but with a good knowledge of Aristotle. His interest in mathematics, caused loss of interest in his medical career.
Back in Florence in 1585, Galileo spent several years devoted to the study of mathematics, although interested in philosophy and literature. From this period dates his first work on the centroid of the bodies and the invention of ahydrostatic balance to determine specific weights.
Gave some math tutoring in Florence and Siena, tried to get a regular job at the universities of Bologna, Padua and Florence. In 1589 he finally got a place in the Pisa study. In 1591 the death of his father meant to Galileo's obligation to take responsibility for his family. They began a series of economic difficulties would only worsen in the yearsfollowing.
Galileo managed to complete the last and most important of his works: "The Discourses and dimostrazioni matematiche scienze intorno A Due nine." Here, based on the discussion of the structure and strength of materials, Galileo laid the groundwork for a physical and mathematical analysis of the motion, which allowed him to demonstrate the laws of falling bodies in a vacuum and develop acomplete theory of missile fire.
In the morning from 8 to 9 January 1642, Galileo died in Arcetri comforted by two of his disciples, Vincenzo Viviani and Evangelista Torricelli, to which had been allowed to live with him in recent years.

The orbit of the Earth
Shortly after the invention of the telescope in Holland, Galileo created his own from improvised spectacle lenses. He learned to create increasingly powerful telescopes, eventually used to observe solar phases of the planet Venus. After noticing that Venus went through phases similar to the Moon,he concluded that the sun should be the central point of the solar system and the Earth as previously assumed.

The principle of the pendulum

At just 20 years old, Galileo was a great cathedral and felt balancing atop lamps took exactly the same time balancing all of them, although the distance rolling progressively shortened. This principle of the pendulum made famous Galileo was finally usedto regulate clocks. The law says that a pendulum always takes the same time to complete a swing since there are always the same amount of kinetic energy in the pendulum, simply transferred from one direction to the other.

The law of falling bodies
This law says that all objects fall at the same rate, given a relatively small differences in environmental conditions and aerodynamic. Galileo...
