“GLOBAL WARMING”
Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation.
Evidence for warmingof the climate system includes observed increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.
Temperature changes vary overthe globe. Since 1979, land temperatures have increased about twice as fast as ocean temperatures. Ocean temperatures increase more slowly than land temperatures because of the larger effective heatcapacity of the oceans and because the ocean loses more heat by evaporation.

La energía es necesaria también en las más diversas actividades comerciales, el transporte, las comunicaciones y por supuesto, la industria, basadafundamentalmente en procesos de calentamiento y enfriamiento. Sin embargo, y a pesar de la importancia de la energía, el modelo energético mundial resulta a todas luces insostenible: plantea grandes dudassobre el abastecimiento de energía a medio y largo plazo, así como problemas ambientales, como el Cambio Climático, de difícil solución, cuyas consecuencias ya estamos empezando a notar hoy: sequíasprolongadas, olas de calor en invierno, lluvias torrenciales cada vez más intensas, deshielo de los casquetes polares que aumentarán el nivel del mar provocando inundación de muchas zonas costeras y riesgode cambio de rumbo de las corrientes marinas.
