TRIP TO SPAIN. I’ll suggest you some places that I visited in Spain and some things to do around there. I’ll start with Madrid and afterthat I’ll continue from the North to the East and finally the South of spain. Let’s do it! Madrid Sol Puerta del Sol is a great point of reference for anyone visiting Madrid, since a number of important roads diverge here. Head westward on Calle Arenal and you'llreach the Royal Theater & Palace (Teatro Real y Palacio Real) ; go southwest on Calle Mayor and you'll find the Plaza Mayor and "Austrias" part of Madrid. Metro stops in this area: Sol, Sevilla, Gran Vía, Ópera You can eat a bocadillo de calamares (Calamari sandwich) wich is very typical with a cold beer (caña). There are tons of places in this area, but don´t go to the restaurants in the SquarePlaza Mayor because there are very expensive. You could go to el Museo del Jamon (Ham Museum) to eat great ham, cheese, salami… (Spanish jam and cheese are so yummy, with a glass of sangria, beer (cerveza) or vino blanco o tinto (white or red wine). It’s not fancy at all, but is very typical, cheap and good quality food. There are at least 2 Museos del Jamón in this area: c/ CARRERA SAN JERÓNIMO,nº 1 Plaza Mayor nº 18

El Mercado de San Miguel

is a Market very close to Sol. Is very nice to see, but VERY expensive. The building and the different stores are very beautiful. Is similar to Granville Island Public Market, but much more fancier and pricer.

Gran Vía

The lively street is one of the city's most important shopping areas. It also contains a large number of hotels andmovie theaters. But what makes this street so special it the architectural design of many of the large buildings. Plaza de Callao If you walk further in the direction of the Plaza de España the Gran Via crosses a small square, the Plaza del Callao. This square was until just a couple of years ago the heart of cinematic Madrid, with about six movie theaters. Is very sad, but now instead you can findH&M, Starbucks or any other shops. Anyways, there is still be one of them, the Capitol, is located in a beautiful Art Deco building.

Plaza de España The last part of the Gran Via, constructed between 1925 and 1929 leads to the Plaza de España, a large square dominated by two skyscrapers built in the 1950s, the symmetric Edificio de España and the Torre de Madrid. Very close to Plaza de España, inFerraz Street you find a nice place: Templo de Debod

Is the home of the Debod Temple, a gift from the Egyptian government. Is one of my favourite places in Madrid. Is a quite and small park, allowing for a contemplative stroll after a day of business meetings or shopping excursions. You have to go there to see the sunset.

Puerta de Alcalá (Retiro Metro Station)

The “Puerta de Alcalá”(the door of Alcalá) is a very significant neoclassical monument of Madrid. Sabatini was who designed it, completed in 1778, built to celebrate the entry into the city of King Carlos III, and replacing the baroque door commissioned by Philip III. If you approach you can find out the holes on the wall of the monument due to shots and bombs during the Civil War.

Parque del Retiro (Retiro Park) Isthe main park of the city of Madrid. (Parque del Buen Retiro) is a large and (350 acres) park at the edge of the city close to the Puerta de Alcalá and not Prado Museum. beautiful peaceful lake one of Madrid'sI think it worth it to go for a relaxing walk but it’s much worst than Stanley Park and maybe is not the best place to recommend to a Canadian person.haha Museums: Museo Reina Sofía, Museo del Prado. These ones are the most important museums and you should visit them.
