MIOMATOSIS UTERINA
Definition
Fibroids arebenign tumors of the uterine muscle (womb), which have different shapes, sizes, locations and variables, which produces the many symptoms of them.
Statistics
Approximately 20% of women suffer fromthis disease before menopause. Less than 1% of patients with uterine fibroids have sarcomatous degeneration, which means that became malignant.
ETIOLOGY
It ignores the etiology of these tumors,although there is evidence that estrogen stimulates their growth by increasing circulation myometrium. Its existence has been associated with childlessness in women, likewise the result of having manychildren, and this is considered an inappropriate and persistent estrogenic fact. During pregnancy, fibroids grow considerably and show cell proliferation, at the end of puerperium turn to itsoriginal size.
FEATURES
Fibroids are benign tumors single or multiple, variable size, well circumscribed, devoid of capsule found inside the muscle wall of the uterus or it is implanted in a sessile orpedunculated, with the polished and cut shows a whitish birth. Rarely located in the lower uterine segment and cervix or uterine ligaments.
CLASSIFICATION
According to the site and form ofimplementation, fibroids are classified as follows:
← Submucosal: They are just below the endometrium and uterine cavity can deform when large.
← Intramural: the tumors are located ren thethickness of the myometrium, when producing large obvious deformity of the uterus, are the most common.
← subserous: according to their way of implementation is divided into sessile, when more...
