Introduction
The higgs boson is a hypothetical partical described by the standard model of particle physics. Its a subatomical particle known as boson. It is anexcitation of the higgs field above its ground state. The higgs field is a quantum field that fills up all of space and explains why particles such as quarks and atoms have mass.
It is important to getto know this particle because that way we will be able tu get a much wider comprehenssion and understanding of the origin of mass; because it is beleived that after the big bang particle had no massbut after they came in contact with the higgs fiel they became heavy. So , any particle that comes in contact with this field gains mass, and this particle, the higgs boson, is the signature of thisfield.
Objective
* To find and explain how the higgs boson and field work.
Question
What would this discovery mean?
Idea’s development
Every known forces in the universe come fromthe action of four main forces, the strong, electromagnetic, weak and gravitational. But some physicist tought that why couldnt exist only one force, this process or idea is called unification, andthe first step took towards this was the discovery of the W and Z particles, the intermediate vector bosons, in 1983. But this is a completion two an older idea of unification proposed in 1979, anintercation between the electromagnetic and the weak force, called electroweak force in the Standard Model.
Altough the Standard model fails to explain how the particles actually get their mass. TheHiggs boson is part of a theory first proposed by physicist Peter Higgs and others in the 1960s to explain how particles obtain mass.
The theory proposes that a so-called Higgs energy field exists...
