Histona:
Es una proteína básica, simple, que existe en el núcleo de las células. Las histonas presentan una estructura constante y casi idéntica entre las distintas especies de organismos, tantoanimales como vegetales. Se combinan con el ADN de los cromosomas formando complejos irreversibles, y desempeñan probablemente una función no específica de represión génica. Forman la cromatina juntocon el ADN, sobre la base de unas unidades conocidas como nucleosomas. La cromatina resuelve el problema de restricción de crecimiento de ADN y núcleo, la cromatina está formada por ADN y proteínas, laprincipal proteína formadora son las histonas.
