Questions:
1. Some people suggest that the Nazis burnt down the Reichstag themselves. Explain why the Nazis might have wanted to do this.
2. Explain why the Enabling Act was soimportant to Hitler.
3. Why might Hitler have executed people such as Von Schleicher who were nothing to do with the SA?
4. Why do you think Hitler close the support of the army over the support of theSA?
Answers:

1. They must have wanted to burn down the Reichstag themselves because to blamed the communists and to declare that the fire was the beginning of a Communists uprising. Then the Nazisused a power with President Hindenburg to arrest Communists, break up meeting and frighten voters. This was one of many theories that German people make of who had fire the Reichstag.

2. It wasvery important because it made Hitler a virtual dictator. This act allowed him to make laws without consulting the Reichstag. To get this Act, Hitler used the SA and the SS to intimidate theReichstag. For the next four years if he wanted a new law he could just pass it. There was nothing President or anyone else could do.

3. Because as a excuse that he killed Röhm, the SA leader, that he hadplot to overthrew, he also said that von Schleicher was doing the same and murder them and many other people. He killed some people that were nothing to do with the SA, because they were part ofpolitics as von Schleicher that were the Chancellor so as to take more power and don´t to have so much rivalry in the futures elections.
4. Hitler had to choose between the army and the SA. The SA was abadly disciplined force and Röhm talked of making the SA into a second German army. Hitler was also suspicious of Röhm. He feared that Röhm control over the 4 millon SA men made him a potentiallydangerous rival.
