HIV: Killing Infection

The HIV is a virus that affects the immune system in a way that it gets vulnerable to every disease. The immune system will get even weaker after the time goes through. Theimmune system is the one that fights against any of the infections, and if it doesn’t work, that’s how we get diseases. The HIV reproduces even in people who don’t have any symptom. First the HIVjust reproduce a little bit, after a while when the immune system is really weak it gets really big and becomes a mortal risk for the human. The virus enters in the body, and as there is nothing tofight against it, it reproduces. Actually a person don’t because of the HIV, dies because of the diseases the person is vulnerable to. There is another type of HIV, or actually is not a type it is a“long-stage or advanced HIV infection” (Higgins, 2007). AIDS is not a condition, it is a term to reference a person’s immune system that can no longer work. The illnesses that affect are called the‘opportunistic infections’. The worst of this illness is that there is no cure, or vaccine to prevent, or even drugs to eliminate this illness. The drugs that are actually use, they just can fight against them,they can make the HIV smaller, but they can’t take it out.

Scientist are now working on vaccines or drugs to fight against this, and until now there are two potent antibodies. The scientist saidit can get the 90% of the HIV out of the body, and they are called: VRC01 and VRC02. They work by blocking the infection by “attaching to the CD4 binding site, preventing the virus from latching ontoimmune cells” (Alazraki, 2010). There are just proves with cells, but it hasn’t been proved in humans. It’s also been created a vaccine called the T-VACCINE, made of T-CELLS that can eliminate a lotof the virus but not eliminate it, it hasn’t been proved it works in humans. This T-VACCINE had a failure on September of 2008 and eliminated some patient’s hopes. This is a very hard condition...
